The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is putting its money where its mouth is in an attempt to tackle one of the world's biggest humanitarian problems: food insecurity.
The foundation has teamed up with Britain, Somalia, the United Arab Emirates, the Children's Investment Fund Foundation, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to create the Global Food Security Summit in London on Monday, reports Reuters.
The goal is to find solutions to the "often unseen" causes of global food insecurity, such as climate change, natural disasters, and war, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak says.
"We must take action to address the underlying, and often unseen, causes of global food insecurity," Sunak says.
To that end, the foundation is setting up a virtual science hub that will work with UK scientists to develop climate-resilient crops, reports the Guardian.
